Chair, RACGP Expert Committee – Standards for General Practices

The RACGP Expert Committee – Standards for General Practices (Standards Committee) was pleased to launch the RACGP Standards for general practices (5th edition) (the Standards) at GP17. These Standards are a platform to support high-quality general practice. Developed over a three-year period, the Standards underwent three rounds of public stakeholder consultation and were piloted extensively in 66 general practices across Australia.

The Standards Committee also developed the RACGP Standards for after-hours and medical deputising services (5th edition), which aim to support quality, safety and continuity of care for after-hours and medical deputising services. Currently, the Standards Committee is finalising the RACGP Standards for point-of-care testing (5th edition), which will be released at GP18.

In order to support the implementation of the Standards 5th edition suite, the accompanying Resource guide has been updated to provide practices with additional information to help meet the Standards.
